I am a Professional Handler actively
involved in many aspects of purebred dogs for 19 years.
I bought my first conformation show dog while living in England
in 1986. There are relatively few, if any professional handlers
in England. The dogs are, for the most part, owner handled. I
learned the ropes with my new puppy and by the time I returned
to the states in 1989, I had two lovely dogs and some skill at
showing them.
Let me say that dog shows in the US were so different that in
the UK than I had to learn everything anew. Professional handlers,
hand-stacking, wearing good clothes, all of these things were
a shock to me. I survived the shock, stuck it out, and learned
the proper way to show a dog here at home.
Over the years I finished many dogs of my own and soon began to
help others to finish their dogs. It was only a short jump from
there into the life of professional handler, a full-time job that
I love. Although I specialize in Rottweilers and Great Danes,
I have shown and finished many other breeds. I look forward to
working with and showing all breeds.
I
offer my clients a loving family atmosphere, a home away from
home, for their dogs when they are with Deric (my wonderful husband)
and me. We do not have a kennel. The dogs are part of our household.
In order to provide this individualized care we have to limit
the number of dogs we take into our home. We have a few dogs of
our own and occasionally breed a litter.
